This song was written after a guy I was attracted to at a party asked me if I wanted to go outside and make love in his van. That told me that he didn’t share my appreciation for time as a necessary ingredient for romance. I declined.
Come on over if you’ve got time to be with me
Come on over if you’ve got time for us to see
Just what it is that’s going on with you and me
But if you’ve got no time you’ve got no call to call on me.
Come on over and we’ll love the night away
We’ll love into the morning and right on through the day
But if you’re in a hurry and you don’t have time to stay
You can say your piece and say goodbye and you can go away.
‘Cause if you’re in a hurry, don’t you call on me
There ain’t no cause to worry, ‘cause, darlin’, I am free
So if you want to love me, prepare to spend some time
‘Cause in the HEB of love, my dear, this ain’t the express line.
Come on over if you’ve got time to stay the night
Come on over; I promise I won’t bite
You know, darlin’, I don’t want to make you mine
Just come on over and we’ll have a real good time.
But if you’re in a hurry, don’t you call on me
There ain’t no cause to worry, ‘cause, darlin’, I am free
So if you want to love me, prepare to spend some time
‘Cause in the HEB of love, my dear, this ain’t the express line
Yes, in the HEB of love, my dear, this ain’t the express line!
